Environmental and Social Impact Policy
1. PURPOSE AND SCOPE
As Türkiye Sigorta A.Ş., we manage the environmental and social impacts of our activities with a responsible insurance approach. Our Environmental and Social Impact Management Policy ("Policy") aims to create long-term value for all our stakeholders by integrating sustainability principles into our business processes, complementing and supporting the Türkiye Sigorta A.Ş. Sustainability Policy.
This policy defines the framework for evaluating and managing environmental and social risks in the following areas of Türkiye Sigorta A.Ş.:
Insurance processes
Investment decisions
Corporate activities
Supply chain management
Türkiye Sigorta A.Ş. is committed to fulfilling its environmental and social responsibilities in line with the Turkish Sustainability Reporting Standards (TSRS), the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the United Nations 2030 Agenda (SDG).
This policy is binding for all employees and business partners of Türkiye Sigorta A.Ş.
2. IMPLEMENTATION
Türkiye Sigorta A.Ş. adopts the following principles to manage environmental and social impacts:
a) Sustainability in Insurance Processes
We consider environmental and social factors in our risk assessment processes.
We offer insurance solutions that support renewable energy projects and the transition to a low-carbon economy.
We impose restrictions on activities in high-risk sectors that could harm the environment and society.
b) Responsible Approach in Investments
Our investment decisions are made in accordance with ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) criteria.
We invest in projects that support sustainable financing models.
We prioritize companies that adopt low-carbon and sustainable business models.
c) Reducing Environmental Impact in Corporate Activities
We implement policies to reduce energy and water consumption.
We adopt waste management and circular economy principles.
We encourage the use of renewable energy in our office operations to reduce our carbon footprint.
d) Social Impact Management and Responsible Business Practices
We implement policies that protect employee rights and promote diversity and inclusion.
We monitor the compliance of our suppliers with environmental and social responsibility criteria.
We create respectful, safe, and ethical work environments that uphold human rights.
3. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES
Türkiye Sigorta A.Ş. commits not to provide insurance for activities that are prohibited or restricted by national legislation and international treaties to which our country is a party, as well as for sectors or activities with high environmental and social risks. In this context, the following activities are excluded from the insurance coverage:
Activities that are in violation of international treaties to which our country is a party and those that harm the ozone layer.
The illegal and cross-border trade of hazardous waste.
Activities related to the trade of wildlife and products covered by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
Activities in wetlands designated as Ramsar Areas, which are protected under the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance Especially as Waterfowl Habitat (Ramsar Convention).
Business models involving forced labor and child labor.
The production of weapons of mass destruction and landmines.
Projects that significantly alter or harm areas and cultural assets listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List and the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List.
Cyanide-based gold mining (excluding mandatory insurance) and diamond mining and trade in countries not involved in the "Kimberley Process."
The transportation of oil and other hazardous substances in a manner not compliant with international maritime standards.
Activities related to pornography or prostitution.
4. IMPLEMENTATION AND MONITORING
Türkiye Sigorta A.Ş. follows up on environmental and social impact management through regular internal audit processes.
We conduct data analyses to ensure compliance with ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) criteria in our insurance decisions.
We educate our employees and business partners on sustainability.
5. SANCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In case of detection of activities that do not comply with this policy, Türkiye Sigorta A.Ş. will review the relevant business processes and take necessary corrective actions.
Secure whistleblowing mechanisms have been established for reporting internal or external violations.
6. ENFORCEMENT AND UPDATING
This policy has been approved by the Board of Directors and is reviewed at least once a year. It will be updated and published when necessary.
This policy was approved by the Board of Directors of Türkiye Sigorta A.Ş. on 03.03.2025 with decision number 18 and entered into force. When necessary, the policy may be amended by the decision of the Board of Directors.
