Responsible Procurement Policy

As in all its activities, Türkiye Hayat ve Emeklilik aims to act responsibly in purchasing processes and to extend the principle of creating sustainable value to the entire supply chain in terms of selecting new suppliers and the behaviors expected to be followed by existing suppliers.

In line with the sustainability approach, Türkiye Hayat ve Emeklilik and our employees prioritize social responsibility, environmental and social sensitivity, and support efforts to ensure economic and social development and the protection of the environment and natural resources. To this end, Türkiye Hayat ve Emeklilik ensures that all suppliers comply with environmental, social and human rights criteria. It also ensures that all purchasing processes are in line with Türkiye Hayat ve Emeklilik Sustainability Principles.

The Company expects its business partners to provide their employees with a fair and safe working environment that complies with occupational health and safety rules and is supported by social rights and guarantees. The Company supports and respects international human rights principles and ensures the creation of a work environment that respects human rights by raising  consciousness and awarenessThe Company strictly opposes child employment, forced and compulsory labor practices. It expects its Business Partners to accept and support this understanding. The Company endeavors to minimize the social impact of the products and services it purchases.

In this context, Sustainable Purchasing;

  • Considering the impact on stakeholders, society, the economy and the environment throughout the life cycle of the goods and services procured,
  • Establish and develop working principles to encourage the supply chain to comply with environmental, quality, occupational safety and human rights principles,
  • Prioritizing suppliers that are competitive in purchasing processes, offer high quality services, have a high reputation in the market and have the ability to identify and manage their own risks, 
  • Ensuring the efficient use of natural resources in purchasing processes and managing processes according to the circular economy approach,
  • Adopting activities that will contribute to combating the climate crisis and transition to a low carbon economy by assessing all risks and opportunities related to climate and sustainability,
  • Minimize purchases and consider reusable/renewable/repairable options, 
  • Reducing costs by increasing efficiency in the long term, 
  • Working with suppliers that are committed to fundamental human rights, business ethics, employee rights, occupational health and safety measures, fair wage practices and environmental protection initiatives, 
  • Working with suppliers that do not use child labor, forced labor, bribery and corruption,
  • Prioritizing local suppliers in purchasing processes to support the local economy, 
  • Establishing long-term business relationships with suppliers based on mutual trust,
  • To prefer products by considering environmental and social impacts in purchases

has adopted the principles.

Purchasing processes are carried out within the framework of " Türkiye Hayat ve Emeklilik 's Purchasing Procedure"; this policy is an annex and an integral part of the relevant procedure.

Suppliers that are found to be non-compliant with the Responsible Procurement Policy of Türkiye Hayat ve Emeklilik are requested to correct the non-compliance. Commercial relations may be terminated with suppliers who do not accept the compliance process and/or do not make improvements within the specified period.

The Sustainability Committee is responsible for monitoring, updating and executing the Responsible Procurement Policy, and the responsibility for its approval and cancellation lies with the Board of Directors.
